We get this question a lot. “What are the most popular CRE maps you make?”
While we would like to say it’s something complicated and has all kinds of data with a bunch of images that tells a great story as a stand alone piece. It’s not. It’s what most people call “Dots on Maps”. Huh? Why do you need a GIS expert to do any of that? Can’t a graphic designer or someone with basic image editing skills with a free web map do that? Not exactly, let us explain further.
Most Popular CRE Maps
While yes you definitely can go the designer way if you want. Would you like to make changes to the underlying map content and design quickly? Do you want your map to stand out and tell an accurate story? Could you use a data driven map that reflects excel files of customer supplied data? Or do you even care at all because you just need an image to point people to and fill flyer space?
If the answer to the any of the above is, “Yes, I do care”. Then we always recommend using the right tool for the job and that’s not a canned web map and someone hacking away with MS Paint or adobe. It’s a GIS expert that can craft your story on a map properly.
While you are at it why not upgrade your dots on maps project to something more meaningful to your client. Tell a story with your map by adding client side information. Something that connects with the client needs by showing them real data. See some map examples here.
